Consistent Strategy Emerges as Teams Continue Sakhir Testing With Full Pirelli Lineup

Teams continued their testing program at the Bahrain circuit on day two, utilizing all three available slick tire compounds from Pirelli's hardest range. The tire usage patterns remained consistent with the previous day's running, as teams evaluated the performance characteristics best suited to the demanding Sakhir layout.

As the second day of running unfolded at the Sakhir circuit, teams maintained their focus on Pirelli's slick tire compounds, specifically targeting the harder end of the Italian manufacturer's available options. This selection proved particularly well-suited to the demands of the challenging Bahrain layout.

The approach teams adopted mirrored the strategy employed during the first day of testing, with drivers and engineers continuing to explore the performance envelope of all three available slick variants. This methodical evaluation allowed for consistent data collection across the range of tire options, providing valuable insights into how each compound would perform across different track conditions and fuel loads.

The repetition of yesterday's tire usage pattern suggests teams found a productive testing methodology, with the harder compounds demonstrating suitability for the circuit's unique characteristics. As preparations continue at Sakhir, the consistent approach to tire evaluation underscores the meticulous nature of modern Formula 1 testing operations.

Tyre Specification

Chapter: C10

In Simple Terms

The tyre supplier (Pirelli) decides what tyres F1 cars use, but they need FIA approval. These specifications can't be changed during the season unless the FIA deems it necessary for safety reasons. Think of it as a locked-in agreement to keep competition fair.

  • Tyre supplier determines specifications in agreement with the FIA
  • Specifications remain fixed throughout the season for competitive fairness
  • FIA has emergency authority to change tyres mid-season for safety reasons
  • Changes require Formula One Commission approval, except in safety situations
