Doohan Targets Le Mans Series Campaign in Bid to Resurrect F1 Career

Jack Doohan is pursuing a 2026 drive in the European Le Mans Series as he attempts to revive his Grand Prix ambitions following a difficult stint as Alpine's race driver. The 23-year-old hopes the endurance racing platform will help him secure a full-time F1 return in 2027.

Jack Doohan is charting a new course for his racing career, with the former F1 driver setting his sights on the European Le Mans Series for 2026 in a strategic move to reignite his Grand Prix prospects.

The 23-year-old's brief tenure in the Alpine race seat during the opening phase of 2025 ended disappointingly after six rounds, during which he failed to register any championship points. That underperformance prompted the team to shuffle him back into a reserve capacity, a demotion that significantly impacted his standing within the sport.

With no F1 opportunities currently on the horizon, Doohan is looking to the European Le Mans Series as a platform to demonstrate his capabilities and rebuild his profile ahead of a potential 2027 return to full-time Grand Prix racing. The endurance racing programme represents his immediate focus as he works to overcome the setbacks of his Alpine campaign and position himself for a fresh chance at the sport's highest level.
