The Path to Formula 1: Tracing Colton Herta's Rise Through Single-Seater Racing
Colton Herta, son of IndyCar veteran and team owner Bryan Herta, has pursued a competitive single-seater career with his eyes firmly set on reaching Formula 1. Beginning his journey in junior motorsport at just 15 years old, Herta has competed against future F1 stars while progressing through Europe's prestigious racing ladder.

Growing up with motorsport in his blood proved inevitable for Colton Herta, whose father Bryan Herta established himself as both a respected IndyCar driver and team principal. Yet rather than follow a straightforward domestic path, the younger Herta charted an ambitious course toward Europe's most competitive junior categories.
The driver's competitive ambitions materialized early when, at the age of 15, he entered the MSA Formula championship—now recognized as the British F4 series. In that competitive field, Herta finished third in the standings, sharing the grid with a young Lando Norris, who captured the first of what would become numerous junior racing titles.
Following this initial European campaign, Herta continued his progression through the traditional single-seater pathway, competing in successive categories as he worked toward the ultimate goal of Formula 1 competition.
