FIA Prioritizes Safety Protocols for Middle East Racing Calendar
FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem has confirmed that the international motorsport governing body is conducting a comprehensive evaluation of its scheduled Middle Eastern events, with safety and wellbeing considerations forming the cornerstone of all forthcoming determinations. The assessment comes amid ongoing regional tensions stemming from military exchanges between the United States, Israel, and Iran.

The FIA is currently undertaking a thorough examination of its Middle Eastern racing calendar, with Formula 1 commitments among the events under review, according to FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem. The governing body's approach to any decisions regarding these fixtures will be fundamentally anchored in considerations of participant and spectator safety, alongside broader wellbeing concerns.
This evaluation reflects the complex geopolitical landscape in the region, where recent military operations have intensified tensions. The United States and Israel have conducted targeted strikes against Iranian positions, prompting retaliatory responses from Tehran, creating a volatile security environment that demands careful attention from sporting authorities.
As the FIA weighs its options moving forward, the organisation remains committed to safeguarding all involved in its events while maintaining the integrity of the racing calendar. The assessment process underscores the multifaceted responsibilities that international sports governing bodies must navigate when operating in geopolitically sensitive areas.
