Can Norris Defend His Crown? Verstappen, Russell, and F1's Biggest Questions Head into 2026
As Formula 1 enters a fresh regulatory era, Lando Norris faces the challenge of protecting his championship while new dynamics between George Russell and Max Verstappen promise compelling drama. Meanwhile, Aston Martin's struggles threaten to overshadow what could be one of the sport's most unpredictable seasons yet.

The 2026 Formula 1 season arrives with no shortage of compelling narratives ready to unfold across the grid. Fresh regulatory frameworks have reset the competitive order, creating genuine uncertainty about which teams and drivers will emerge victorious—a refreshing prospect after years of predictability at the sport's highest level.
At the forefront of the championship conversation sits Lando Norris, tasked with the formidable responsibility of defending his title against a field hungry to reclaim dominance. The pressure on the defending champion will be immense, particularly as rivals sharpen their tools under the new technical regulations.
Beyond the title fight itself, the emerging relationship between George Russell and Max Verstappen commands significant attention. Their on-track dynamic promises to deliver some of the season's most fascinating moments, whether through direct competition or the strategic maneuvering that defines modern F1 warfare.
Yet not every storyline carries optimistic undertones. Aston Martin's trajectory has become increasingly concerning, with the team's unfolding difficulties potentially threatening to derail championship ambitions before the season truly gains momentum. Their struggles inject an element of drama that extends well beyond simple performance metrics.
Together, these elements—the new regulations, Norris' championship defence, the Russell-Verstappen intrigue, and Aston Martin's mounting challenges—construct a season brimming with questions about where success will ultimately lie.
