Ralf Schumacher believes Ferrari's impressive off-season improvements have provided team principal Fred Vasseur with valuable breathing room after a challenging 2025 campaign. The Scuderia bounced back from a difficult year that saw them finish fourth in the constructors' championship by delivering competitive machinery for 2026, with particular strength demonstrated in race start performance.

The automotive overhaul completed by Ferrari during the winter shutdown has substantially relieved the pressure mounting on team principal Fred Vasseur, according to former Formula 1 competitor Ralf Schumacher.

Coming off the back of a 2025 season that proved troublesome for the Italian marque—culminating in a fourth-place finish in the constructors' standings—Vasseur's squad has made a compelling statement in the opening stages of 2026. The Maranello-based operation has unveiled machinery that demonstrates clear competitive merit, with early indications suggesting particular prowess during race starts.

Schumacher has credited the team's winter efforts as exemplary work that has fundamentally shifted the narrative surrounding Ferrari's trajectory. The ex-driver's assessment suggests that the technical progress achieved during the off-season break has furnished Vasseur with newfound latitude and confidence as the team embarks on what could prove a significantly more prosperous campaign compared to their previous struggles.

If a car has problems after the 15-second signal, the driver raises their arm and the car gets pushed to the pit lane while others proceed. This ensures safety and fairness in race starts.

When the one minute signal is shown, engines should be started and all team personnel must leave the grid by the time the 15 second signal is shown. If any driver needs assistance after the 15 second signal he must raise his arm and, when the remainder of the cars able to do so have left the grid, marshals will be instructed to push the car into the pit lane.
