Middle East Crisis Forces F1 to Axe Bahrain and Saudi Arabia Events
Formula 1 has officially announced the cancellation of both the Bahrain Grand Prix and Saudi Arabian Grand Prix for the 2026 season due to the escalating situation in the Middle East. The decision removes two significant rounds from the calendar as the sport navigates regional instability.

The Formula 1 calendar has been dealt another blow, with both Middle Eastern rounds now confirmed as cancelled.
In light of the current geopolitical circumstances affecting the region, the Bahrain Grand Prix and the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix will not feature on the 2026 schedule. The decision comes as the ongoing situation in the Middle East has necessitated a reassessment of F1's commitments to the area.
This marks a significant shift for the championship, as both venues have been regular fixtures in recent seasons. The removal of these two events will require FIA and Liberty Media officials to reconfigure the calendar and potentially seek alternative host nations to maintain the season's structure.
The cancellations represent another challenge for Formula 1 as it continues to navigate an increasingly complex global landscape while seeking to preserve the integrity and continuity of its world championship.
