Article 11.2
Plank Fillet Application
Chapter: APPENDIX C2: REGULATION VOLUMES
In Simple Terms
After the floor shape is finalized, teams must round off the sharp corners (called fillets) at specific points with precise curves. This prevents teams from creating sharp edges that could exploit aerodynamic loopholes.
- Fillets are mandatory rounded edges applied at designated corner points on the plank
- The radius of each fillet is strictly specified by regulations to ensure consistency
- This requirement applies only after the overall floor surface is fully defined
- Sharp corners are prohibited to maintain fair aerodynamic performance across all teams
Official FIA Text
Once the surface in §11.1 is fully defined, fillets of specified radii must be applied at designated vertices.
