Article 24
Front Wing Endplate Outer Footplate Reference Volume (RV-FWEP-OFP)
Chapter: C
In Simple Terms
This rule defines a specific 3D box-shaped reference area on the outer part of the front wing endplate. The FIA uses this volume to check that teams aren't adding illegal extensions or shapes that go beyond the allowed dimensions, by removing certain trimmed sections based on other technical regulations.
- Defines a rectangular 3D volume (cuboid) with specific X, Y, Z coordinate boundaries for the front wing endplate outer footplate
- The reference volume is trimmed by removing material forward of a plane (per §21.1) and removing material within a cylinder (per §23.3)
- Teams must ensure their front wing endplate components stay within this defined volume to comply with aerodynamic regulations
- This is a dimensional specification rule used by the FIA for technical inspection and verification
Official FIA Text
RV-FWEP-OFP is composed of an axis-aligned cuboid with interior diagonal [XF=-1250, 750, 75] to [XF=-300, 900, 170], trimmed using plane from §21.1 with material forward discarded, and trimmed with cylinder from §23.3 with both discarded.
