Article 27
Front Wing Strake Reference Volume (RV-FW-STRAKE)
Chapter: C
In Simple Terms
The front wing strake is a small vertical fin on the front wing that must fit within a specific rectangular box measuring roughly 750mm wide, 105mm tall, and 125mm deep. The FIA uses this reference volume to ensure all teams' strakes are the correct size and shape for safety and competition fairness.
- The strake occupies a defined 3D space (reference volume) that all teams must comply with
- The component is positioned on the front wing and extends backward from a forward-facing plane
- Specific measurements are given in millimeters using the car's coordinate system
- Any strake material extending beyond this volume would violate the regulations
Official FIA Text
RV-FW-STRAKE is composed of an axis-aligned cuboid with interior diagonal [XF=-1125, 450, 75] to [XF=-375, 555, 200], trimmed using plane from §21.1 with all material forward discarded.
