Forward Intrusion Laminate Reference Surface - Extrusion

Chapter: APPENDIX C3: DRAWINGS

In Simple Terms

This rule defines how the front crash structure's laminate (protective layer) surface is created by extending a specific profile across the entire width of the car. The resulting surface is officially called 'RS-INTSN-LAM-FWD' and is used as a reference to ensure the car meets safety standards.

  • A profile is extended (extruded) along the Y-axis from one side of the car to Y = 500mm to create the complete surface
  • This creates the official reference surface 'RS-INTSN-LAM-FWD' for the forward intrusion laminate
  • The surface is used to verify the car's front crash structure complies with FIA safety regulations
Official FIA Text

Once the profile in §35.1 is fully defined, it must be extruded in Y to Y = 500. The fully defined surface in §35.2 is "RS-INTSN-LAM-FWD".
