Fast Lane Work Before Formation Lap

In Simple Terms

Teams have a limited window to work on their cars in the Fast Lane before the formation lap begins. They must stop all work and clear out 15 seconds before the formation lap starts, and can only do specific tasks like starting the engine, adjusting the front wing, changing wheels, or making driver comfort adjustments.

  • Work in the Fast Lane must cease 15 seconds before the formation lap begins
  • All personnel and equipment must be completely cleared from the Fast Lane by this deadline
  • Only five specific types of work are permitted: engine start, cooling devices, driver comfort, wheel changes, and front wing adjustments
  • Any work beyond these allowed tasks is not permitted in the Fast Lane

Working in the Fast Lane will be permitted for a period ending fifteen (15) seconds prior to the commencement of the formation lap, after which all personnel and equipment must be clear of the Fast Lane. Work is restricted to starting engine, fitting cooling devices, driver comfort changes, wheel changes, and front wing aerodynamic adjustments.
