Extra Formation Lap Procedure

Sometimes before the race starts, a problem might occur that doesn't require canceling the whole race. If this happens, the Race Director can order all cars to do an extra warm-up lap. Orange lights and a board will tell drivers there's an extra formation lap, then green lights signal them to go.

• Used when a minor problem occurs before the race that doesn't require aborting
• Race Director has sole authority to decide if an extra formation lap is needed
• Orange lights and 'EXTRA FORMATION LAP' board alert drivers before green lights restart the procedure
• Allows teams to address issues while keeping the race on schedule
