Immobilised Car Extra Formation Lap Procedure
Chapter: B5
In Simple Terms
If a car breaks down on the grid and needs to be pushed away, causing an extra formation lap, the team gets a chance to fix the problem. If they succeed, the car can start the race from the end of the pit lane instead of the grid, with the starting order determined by which car reaches the pit lane exit first.
- A broken-down car pushed from the grid triggers an extra formation lap
- Teams are allowed to attempt repairs during this extra lap
- If repaired successfully, the car starts from the end of the pit lane
- Starting order from pit lane is determined by arrival sequence at pit lane exit
