Rear Suspension Member Attachment

Chapter: C10

In Simple Terms

F1 teams cannot attach any rear suspension parts directly to the engine/power unit. The suspension must connect to the car's chassis instead. This rule ensures the power unit isn't stressed by suspension forces and maintains consistent technical specifications across all teams.

  • Rear suspension components must attach to the chassis, not the power unit
  • This prevents the engine from bearing structural loads meant for the chassis
  • Ensures fair competition by standardizing how teams design their suspension geometry
  • Violation indicates a fundamental design flaw in the car's construction
