Article C10.8.4
Tyre Heating Systems Design Prescriptions
Chapter: C10
In Simple Terms
Teams can use electric heating blankets to warm up tyres before a race, but these blankets can only have heating elements on the outside surface and be divided into a maximum of three separately controllable temperature zones. All the equipment must be approved and registered by the FIA to ensure fairness and safety.
- Heating elements must be on the outer tyre surface only - no internal heating allowed
- Maximum of three temperature-controllable zones per blanket for precise heat management
- All tyre heating systems require FIA approval and homologation before use
- Both the hardware (physical equipment) and software (control systems) must meet FIA standards
