Brake Pads

Chapter: C11

In Simple Terms

Each wheel on an F1 car must have either one pair or two pairs of brake pads that press against the brake disc from opposite sides. This ensures F1 cars have reliable braking performance throughout a race.

  • Every wheel requires brake pads - either one or two opposing pairs
  • Opposing pairs means pads press from both sides of the brake disc
  • Flexibility in design allows teams to choose between single or dual pad configurations
  • This regulation ensures consistent and effective braking systems across all F1 cars
