Article C11.4.2
Brake Pressure Increase Restriction
Chapter: C11
In Simple Terms
F1 teams cannot artificially boost the brake pressure beyond what the driver's foot applies to the pedal, with one exception: the rear brake system is allowed to increase pressure automatically. This ensures the driver has direct control over braking while allowing engineers to optimize rear brake performance.
- Brake caliper pressure must be limited to what the driver physically applies through pedal force
- The rear brake control system is the only exception and may increase pressure beyond driver input
- This rule maintains driver control and safety by preventing unwanted pressure amplification in brake systems
- Applies to all brake calipers except those controlled by the rear brake system
Official FIA Text
No braking system may increase brake calliper pressure above that achieved by driver applied pedal force except rear brake control system.
