Rear Brake Control System

Chapter: C11

In Simple Terms

F1 cars can use an electronic system to boost rear brake pressure, but it can't exceed 1.2 times the force the driver applies to the brake pedal. This helps with braking performance while keeping the driver in control.

  • Electronic brake systems can amplify rear brake pressure up to a maximum of 1.2x the driver's input
  • The boost is controlled automatically by the car's control electronics
  • The driver's initial brake pedal pressure is the baseline that cannot be exceeded by more than 20%
  • This system improves braking efficiency while maintaining driver control and safety
