Identification Transponders

In Simple Terms

Every F1 car's survival cell (the protective cockpit area) must have three official FIA tracking devices installed in specific locations as shown in technical drawings. These transponders are permanently fitted and must be easy for officials to check and verify.

• Three FIA-supplied transponders are mandatory in each survival cell
• Transponders must be positioned according to official technical drawings (Drawing 2)
• They must be a permanent part of the survival cell structure
• Transponders must remain accessible for FIA officials to verify and inspect
