Steering Wheel
Chapter: C12
In Simple Terms
The steering wheel must be positioned low enough in the cockpit so it doesn't stick up above an imaginary line between the secondary roll structure and a point below the main roll structure. It also needs to be set back at least 50mm from the front edge of the cockpit opening for safety reasons.
- Steering wheel cannot exceed a height line drawn between the front fixing axis of the Secondary Roll Structure and a point 75mm below the highest point of the principal roll structure
- The wheel must maintain this height clearance at any rotation angle
- Minimum 50mm distance required between the steering wheel and the front edge of the cockpit opening
- Regulation ensures driver safety by preventing steering wheel interference with cockpit entry and roll structure
