Seat fixing and removal

In Simple Terms

F1 cars must have a removable seat that can be taken out quickly in emergencies. The seat can be held in place with a maximum of two fasteners, which must be easy to access and removable either by hand or with a simple 4mm hex key.

  • Seat must be removable for safety reasons during emergency extractions
  • Maximum of two fastenings allowed to secure the seat
  • Fastenings must be vertical, clearly marked, and easily accessible
  • Removal must be possible with no tools or just a 4mm hexagonal key

All cars must be fitted with a removable seat which, if it is secured, must be done so with no more than two fastenings. Fastenings must be clearly indicated, easily accessible, fitted vertically, and removable either without tools or with a 4mm hexagonal key.
