In Simple Terms
F1 teams cannot modify the safety cell (SSC) components unless they're very minor changes that are officially allowed. If a team finds any safety, reliability, or compatibility problems, they must tell their supplier and the FIA right away. Only in special situations can the FIA approve modifications.
- SSC components have strict modification limits - only minor, explicitly permitted changes are allowed
- Teams must immediately report any safety, reliability, or compatibility issues to both their supplier and the FIA
- The FIA can authorize modifications in exceptional circumstances only
- Teams are responsible for ensuring their SSC meets all safety requirements
