Test Facilities Sharing

Chapter: C18

In Simple Terms

Power unit manufacturers can share testing facilities with their competitors, but only if those facilities are available to everyone on equal terms. They must set up safeguards to prevent one team from learning the other's secrets, and any intellectual property developed remains the exclusive property of the manufacturer who created it.

  • Shared facilities are only allowed if commercially available to all competitors on equal terms
  • Manufacturers must implement measures to prevent intellectual property and knowledge transfer between competitors
  • All IP developed through shared facilities remains exclusively owned by the manufacturer who created it
  • The rule prevents unfair competitive advantages while allowing cost-effective facility sharing
