Slip Sensor
Chapter: C3
In Simple Terms
Teams can install a slip sensor (a device that measures tire grip) and its protective cover underneath the front of the chassis in a designated area. The curved surfaces that touch the air must form smooth, single curves from any viewing angle to maintain aerodynamic efficiency and fairness.
- Slip sensors and fairings must be mounted in the specified RV-SLIP zone underneath the forward chassis
- The combined surfaces touching the airstream must create single, smooth curves when viewed from any direction (Z plane)
- This rule ensures aerodynamic consistency and prevents teams from gaining unfair advantages through sensor fairing design
Official FIA Text
Slip sensor and fairing may be mounted underneath Forward Chassis within RV-SLIP. Combined surface in contact with External Air Stream must form single curve when intersected by any Z plane.
