In Simple Terms

The front and rear lip sections of an F1 car must fit within specific defined areas and can have up to two distinct sections when viewed from the side or top. All lip surfaces must be smooth with no sharp curves (minimum 20mm radius) and must be clearly visible from the sides of the car.

  • Front and rear lips must stay within designated volume boundaries (RV volumes)
  • Lips can have a maximum of two sections in any cross-sectional plane
  • All lip surfaces must be fully visible from either the inboard or outboard side
  • Minimum radius of 20mm required for all curves to prevent sharp edges

Front and Rear Lip Bodywork must lie within respective RV volumes, have up to two sections in any XW and YW-Plane, be fully visible from inboard or outboard. Lip Aerodynamic Surfaces must contain no concave or convex radius less than 20mm.
