In Simple Terms

F1 cars can have up to three small support structures (stays) in the front that hold the drum deflector, each no thicker than a 20mm cylinder. The rear has one stay that must fit within specific dimensions defined by the rulebook. These stays keep aerodynamic components stable and in the right position.

  • Maximum of three Front Drum Deflector Stays allowed per car
  • Each front stay must fit within a circular cross-section of 20mm diameter or less
  • Rear Drum Deflector Stay must comply with RV-RWH-STAY specifications and cuboid dimensional limits
  • Stays are structural support elements that must remain within defined boundaries
