RIS Outlet Aperture
Chapter: C3
In Simple Terms
Teams can have an opening on the rear wing's exhaust system (called the RIS outlet) to release air, but it's strictly limited in size to 3,250mm² maximum. This opening must be positioned in a specific location on the tail section and can only allow air to flow outward, not inward.
- Maximum aperture area of 3,250mm² on the rear wing exhaust outlet
- Located at a fixed horizontal position 760mm from a reference point on the car's rear
- Upper edge must be at exactly 380mm height, with inner edge at the car's centerline
- Only allows one-way airflow (efflux) - air can only exit, not enter
