Article C3.16.6
F-Scoop Inlet Aperture
Chapter: C3
In Simple Terms
The front wing's air scoop inlet opening must be between 50-200mm² in size and can only pull air in (not push it out). Almost all the air that enters through this inlet must exit through the front scoop outlet, with only tiny amounts of unavoidable leakage allowed.
- F-Scoop inlet aperture size is strictly limited to a maximum of 15,000mm² of area
- The inlet operates on 'influx only' principle - air can only enter, not exit through this opening
- All air entering the scoop must exit through the designated Front Scoop Outlet, except for minimal incidental leakage that's unavoidable
- The regulation specifies three reference volumes (50, 125, 200 RV) to define the aperture dimensions
Official FIA Text
