Suspension Fairing Cross-Section Requirements

Chapter: C3

In Simple Terms

F1 suspension fairings (the covers around the suspension components) must be symmetrical in shape and relatively compact. They have a maximum width of 100mm and can't be too elongated—the longest dimension can't be more than 3.5 times the shortest dimension.

  • Suspension fairings must have at least one line of symmetry for aerodynamic consistency
  • Overall maximum dimension is limited to 100mm to control size and aerodynamic effects
  • Aspect ratio cannot exceed 3.5:1, preventing overly stretched or elongated fairing designs
  • No single dimension can be more than 5mm larger than the major axis, maintaining proportional balance
Official FIA Text

External cross-section of each Suspension Fairing must have at least one axis of symmetry, maximum dimension of 100mm, no dimension exceeding 5mm larger than major axis, aspect ratio no greater than 3.5:1.
