Article C3.17.4
Suspension Fairings Shared Attachment Points
Chapter: C3
In Simple Terms
When two suspension fairings (aerodynamic covers over suspension parts) share an attachment point, they can be designed together as one piece. Teams are allowed minor exceptions to normal shape rules at the junction where they connect, and can cut out holes where the actual suspension components need to pass through.
- Suspension fairings can share attachment points if considered as a single virtual piece during technical inspection
- Minor geometric exceptions are permitted at junction areas between shared fairings
- Cutouts are allowed where inboard suspension members (shock absorbers, anti-roll bars, etc.) need to pass through the fairing
- These exceptions exist only to accommodate functional necessity, not for aerodynamic advantage
Official FIA Text
Suspension Fairings of members sharing attachment point considered by virtual dissection. Allowed minimally necessary exceptions to geometry constraints close to junction, including cut outs for inboard suspension member passage.
