Article C3.18.4
Front Wing Endplate Flexibility
Chapter: C3
In Simple Terms
The front wing endplate (the vertical part at the edge of the wing) can only bend a maximum of 7mm when officials push down on it with 60 Newtons of force. This test ensures teams aren't using overly flexible wings to gain an aerodynamic advantage.
- Endplate deflection limit is 7mm under specified load conditions
- Test applies 60N force either vertically downward or sideways (Y-direction)
- Load is applied through a 25mm diameter rubber pad for consistent testing
- Deflection is measured from the forward-most wing profile element at position Y=575
Official FIA Text
Front Wing Endplate may deflect no more than 7mm when 60N load applied vertically downwards or in Y-direction on periphery. Load applied through 25mm diameter rubber pad. Deflection measured relative to forward-most Front Wing Profiles element at Y=575.
