Supports for Scrutineering

Chapter: C3

In Simple Terms

F1 cars must have 4 lifting pads (small circular platforms) firmly attached to the car's main structure or engine parts. These pads are used during technical inspections to safely lift and support the car, and they must be positioned in specific locations with precise measurements to ensure proper handling.

  • 4 pads required, each 20mm in diameter, rigidly mounted to critical car structures
  • Pads positioned symmetrically in pairs on either side of the car's centerline
  • Located within a specific vertical zone (Z=2 to Z=10) with standardized M8x1.25 threaded holes
  • Used exclusively for scrutineering and technical inspections
Official FIA Text
