Floor Leading Edge Device

Chapter: C3

In Simple Terms

The floor's front edge device is a small aerodynamic component that must fit within a specific boundary and can have up to five different sections. The part must be at least 4mm thick in its upper area and have smooth curves with no sharp bends (minimum 2mm radius) to prevent damage and ensure safety.

  • The device must stay entirely within the RV-FLOOR-LED boundary zone defined by regulations
  • Maximum of five sections allowed in any X and Z plane to control aerodynamic complexity
  • Upper portion (above Z=60) requires minimum 4mm thickness for structural integrity
  • All curves must have at least 2mm radius to eliminate sharp edges and ensure driver safety
Official FIA Text

Floor Leading Edge Device Bodywork must lie entirely within RV-FLOOR-LED and have up to five sections in any X and Z-Plane. Above Z=60 must be no less than 4mm thick and contain no convex radius less than 2mm.
