F1 cars must have at least 5kg of combined mass from the driver's personal equipment (like their suit and helmet) and additional cooling systems designed to keep the driver safe in the heat. This 5kg minimum ensures drivers have proper protection and cooling gear.
- Minimum combined mass requirement is 5kg for driver safety equipment
- Includes both personal equipment (suit, helmet, etc.) and dedicated cooling systems
- Cooling systems not counted as personal equipment are included in this requirement
- Ensures adequate thermal protection for drivers during races
