Article C5.1.11
Air Inlet System
Chapter: C5
In Simple Terms
All the air that enters an F1 engine's compressor must go directly into the combustion chambers to be burned as fuel. The only exception is small amounts of air that might leak out through joints in the engine. This ensures engines run efficiently and fairly.
- Air entering the compressor inlet must exclusively reach the combustion chambers
- Small leakage through engine joints is the only permitted exception
- Prevents teams from using air in unauthorized ways (like cooling or other systems)
- Ensures fair competition and engine efficiency standards
Official FIA Text
