Article C5.1.9
Dismountable Components in Combustion Chamber
Chapter: C5
In Simple Terms
F1 engines have several small parts that stick into the combustion chamber (where fuel burns) and can be swapped out. The FIA has a strict list of approved parts for this—things like fuel injectors, spark plugs, and valves. Teams can only use official FIA-approved versions of these components to keep the competition fair.
- Only FIA-approved fuel injectors, spark plugs, and poppet valves can be used in the combustion chamber
- In-cylinder pressure sensors are allowed for replacement but must not exceed 7mm in diameter
- Spark plug coaxial components must also be FIA-approved
- These are 'dismountable' parts, meaning they can be removed and replaced between races
Official FIA Text
