Energy Recovery System (ERS)

Chapter: C5

In Simple Terms

The Energy Recovery System is considered completely shut down when there's no electrical power flowing through the main energy storage components on the control unit side. Think of it like turning off all the power switches in the hybrid battery system so no energy can be stored or released.

  • ERS is officially 'off' when High Voltage (HV) power disappears from the main energy storage section
  • The shutdown check specifically looks at the Control Unit (CU-K) side of the main contactors (electrical switches)
  • No power should be present in any capacitor or energy storage device when the system is shutdown
  • This definition ensures the hybrid power system is completely de-energized for safety and technical compliance
Official FIA Text

The system will be considered shutdown when no High Voltage will be present on the portion of the HV DC Bus located on the CU-K side of the ES main contactors, across any capacitor belonging to the CU-K or outside of the RV-PU-ERS.
