In Simple Terms
This rule allows teams to install additional electrical equipment inside the main energy storage box beyond what's already required. Specifically, teams can add a low voltage power distribution board to manage electrical systems, as well as electric pump drivers and cooling systems for the hybrid power unit that aren't mounted on the engine itself.
- Teams can install a Low Voltage Power Distribution Board (PDB) in the ES Main Enclosure to manage electrical distribution
- Electric pump driver units for the hybrid system are permitted inside the main enclosure
- Non-engine-mounted ERS cooling systems can be housed within the energy storage enclosure
- These are optional additions beyond the mandatory components listed in Article C5.19.7
