The MGU-K (a hybrid power recovery system) must connect to the engine through a single shaft, and this connection point must be located before a specific measurement position (X PU = 100) on the engine. This rule ensures the hybrid system is properly integrated into the power unit in a standardized way.

• Only one shaft can transfer all mechanical power between the MGU-K and the internal combustion engine
• The MGU-K connection to the crankshaft must be positioned ahead of the X PU = 100 measurement point
• This standardized connection point prevents teams from gaining unfair advantages through alternative mechanical configurations
