Chapter: C5

Any energy storage system in the car that isn't part of the official ERS (Energy Recovery System) is treated as an extra component and must follow the same rules as other ancillary equipment. This ensures teams can't use unauthorized power sources to gain an advantage.
- Non-ERS energy storage systems are classified as ancillary components
- These systems must comply with Article C5.13.1 regulations for ancillary equipment
- Teams cannot use unauthorized energy storage devices beyond the approved ERS system
- This rule prevents teams from gaining unfair performance advantages through alternative power sources
