In Simple Terms

F1 cars must have a safety fuse in their energy storage system that instantly cuts off power if there's an electrical short circuit. This fuse needs to be positioned right next to the battery cells and must be tested to prove it works under real racing conditions.

  • Energy storage systems must include a fuse for short circuit protection
  • The fuse must be located as close as possible to the battery cells
  • The fuse must be tested and proven to work under realistic load conditions
  • This is a critical safety requirement to prevent electrical fires and system damage
