Article C5.7.1
Variable geometry exhaust systems prohibition
Chapter: C5
In Simple Terms
F1 teams cannot use exhaust systems that change shape or geometry during a race. The only exception is wastegates, which are allowed. This rule prevents teams from gaining unfair advantages by adjusting their exhaust performance.
- Variable geometry exhaust systems are completely prohibited in F1
- Variable turbine and variable nozzle turbine designs are not allowed
- Wastegates are the only exception permitted under this regulation
- This ensures all teams use fixed exhaust configurations throughout the season
