In Simple Terms
F1 cars must have a fuel tank made from a single rubber bladder that meets strict safety standards set by the FIA. Teams can choose whether or not to add foam inside the tank for extra protection, but it's not required.
- Fuel tank must be constructed as a single rubber bladder
- Must meet or exceed FIA Standard FT5-1999 safety specifications
- Foam lining inside the tank is optional, not mandatory
- These specifications ensure fuel tank integrity and safety during racing

The fuel tank must be a single rubber bladder conforming to or exceeding the specifications of FIA Standard FT5−1999, the fitting of foam within the tank however is not mandatory.
