Article C6.1.4
Fuel Tank Pressure Relief Valve
Chapter: C6
In Simple Terms
Every F1 car's fuel tank must have a safety valve that releases pressure if it builds up too much, preventing the tank from bursting. The car also needs a sensor to monitor the fuel tank's pressure at all times.
- Pressure relief valve is mandatory to protect the fuel tank from overpressure damage
- Works as a safety mechanism to prevent fuel tank rupture or explosion
- Fuel tank pressure sensor must be installed to continuously monitor tank conditions
- Specifications for the sensor are detailed in Article C6.6.4
Official FIA Text
All fuel tanks must be fitted with a pressure relief valve to prevent overpressure, and with a fuel tank pressure sensor as specified in the diagram of Article C6.6.4.
