Article C6.2.2
Fuel Bladder Attachment Design
Chapter: C6
In Simple Terms
The fuel bladder (fuel tank) must be attached to the car's main safety structure in a special way: if something pulls the bladder away, the attachment points should break cleanly without damaging the bladder itself. This prevents fuel leaks in a crash.
- Fuel bladder attachments must fail safely if pulled away from the Survival Cell
- The attachment breaking is intentional - it's designed as a safety feature
- The fuel bladder itself must remain intact even when the attachment fails
- This design prevents fuel spillage and fires during accidents
Official FIA Text
Where the fuel bladder is attached to the Survival Cell, fixings must be designed so that if it is pulled away from the Survival Cell, the attachment will fail without compromising the integrity of the fuel bladder.
