Article C6.6.5
Fuel pressure damper installation
Chapter: C6
In Simple Terms
If a team wants to use a fuel pressure damper (a device that smooths out fuel pressure fluctuations), it must be installed before the fuel flow meter. This ensures the flow meter can accurately measure fuel consumption without interference from the damper.
- Fuel pressure damper placement is strictly regulated - must be upstream (before) the fuel flow meter
- The fuel flow meter must receive unfiltered fuel pressure data to accurately measure consumption
- This rule prevents teams from using dampers to mask or manipulate fuel flow readings
- Downstream installation would compromise the integrity of fuel consumption monitoring
Official FIA Text
If a fuel pressure damper is fitted it must be fitted upstream of the Fuel Flow Meter described in article C5.9.3.
