Article C7.1
Location of lubricating oil tanks
Chapter: C7
In Simple Terms
Oil tanks must be positioned in a specific area of the car's chassis, between two defined longitudinal points (X F=0 and X DIF=150), and cannot extend beyond the widest part of the driver's safety cell. This ensures they stay in a safe, contained location within the car's core structure.
- Oil tanks must be located between X F=0 and X DIF=150 on the car's length
- Tanks cannot extend outboard beyond the lateral extremities of the Survival Cell
- This rule protects the structural integrity and safety of the driver's compartment
- Placement restrictions ensure consistent fuel system packaging across all teams
Official FIA Text
