Article C8.1.3
Re-programmable devices software identification
Chapter: C8
In Simple Terms
F1 teams must install a system that lets the FIA easily check what software version is running in their car's computer systems. This ensures teams can't secretly use illegal software upgrades during races.
- All reprogrammable devices (computers/control systems) must have identification mechanisms
- The FIA needs to accurately identify which software version is loaded at any time
- This prevents teams from using unauthorized or banned software updates
- Ensures fair competition and technical regulation compliance
