In Simple Terms

Every F1 car must have red, blue, and yellow warning lights in the cockpit that are controlled by the FIA's standard computer system. These lights alert drivers to important track conditions and safety signals during the race.

  • Three cockpit lights are mandatory: red, blue, and yellow
  • Lights are supplied and controlled through the FIA Standard ECU (Electronic Control Unit)
  • Lights communicate track signals and conditions to drivers in real-time
  • This is a safety communication system between race control and drivers

All cars must be fitted with red, blue and yellow Cockpit lights, supplied as part of the FIA Standard ECU, to give drivers information concerning track signals or conditions.
